Tourtiere (French Canadian Meat Pie) Recipe

Tourtiere is a French Canadian Meat Pie, and something I remember eating every Christmas Eve at my grandparents house in Ottawa, Ontario, my Dad's family being French Canadian. When we moved across the country to BC, when I was 10, we continued the tradition. When I got married, with step kids, we carried on my beloved Christmas Eve Tourtiere tradition. This is the recipe my grandfather used (with a few tweeks from my Mom).

I make it every Christmas to give to family and friends... it was once of my Dad's favourites. If I wasn't lactose intolerant, I don't know how many I would give away, LOL!

Using this base you can make your tree cake as large as you need it to be, or have additional cupcakes on hand (maybe decorated as an ornament or a gift) for large parties!

Once you have your green icing applied, have fun decorating it, just like you would a read tree. Try using candies, shaped fondant or chocolate melts (they come in so many colours), sprinkles and anything else you can think of!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas started off as a Dr, Seuss children's book released 1957. It was made into a Christmas cartoon movie in 1966 and continues to be a Christmas icon. A remake was released 2000 and an new version will be coming out in 2018! I can't wait!
